Creating a Wildlife Habitat in your Backyard
Inviting wildlife into your backyard is a great way to study the wildlife privately. You get to observe them and find rare moments; and if you are a photographer sometimes capture them. Also, supporting wildlife in your backyard can help nature integrate with urban landscapes as well as enrich your local environments. By creating wildlife habitats in your backyard, you will reap the most benefits for you, your family, and the Earth.
You don't have to, but if you want, you can even certify your yard as a Certfied Wildlife Habitat with the National Wildlife Federation by following some simple steps and guidance listed on their website. I was able to get my yard certified over the pandemic and have seen my backyard transform since then. You don't need to recertify, but I think its good to do as an Earth Day activity, or something like that each year.
Below are some reasons to invite wildlife to your backyard as well:
You get to observe stuff like this.
2. You meet more of nature's acquaintances and begin to form relationships with them.
3. You will see strange and beautiful things.
4. You get to see what wanders into your yard, both intentionally and unintentionally.
5. After time, you will have an abundance of nature coming to visit.
6. You will support new life.
7. You will have subjects, if you are a photographer.
8. They will bring you things.
