Microgreens can really add to a dish. Typically, they aren't cooked as they are delicate. They are usually incorporated into salads and used for garnishes to create a more appealing and rounded dish. Not all microgreens are created equal; some have different tastes and nutrient qualities. When experimenting and sampling the flavors within the microgreen niche, here are a few simple ideas that can help spruce up any dull dish by using microgreens as a garnish:
1. On Your Breakfast Eggs
As shown in the image, microgreen garnish on eggs is a real easy way to dress up a common morning meal while making it a touch healthier. Better yet if you use organic or free range eggs.
2. Over Smoked Salmon
Lots of people like to entertain and have smoked salmon with cream cheese and some kind of bread. Add some microgreens to this to be a little different.
3. Top Your Open Faced Sandwich
As the keto diet spreads, more and more people try to minimize carb intake. Style up your open faced sandwiches or lettuce wraps with some nice microgreens.
4. The Obvious One...Salads
People struggle finding good salad combinations and therefore don't eat enough of this green. Experiment with dressings, add nuts or dried fruit, try different lettuces and fresh vegetables, mix lettuces, and while your at top it off with some colorful microgreens so it tastes good with your eyes before you put all that goodness in your belly.
5. Soups...the Not So Obvious One
Soups are often garnished with chopped up herbs or cheese. Due to microgreens being small and packed with a bite of flavor, certain varieties could be suitable for garnish on your soups you have in your cookbooks and recipe collections. Try subsituting common herb garnishes with microgreens.
