Create an Eco-Friendly Green Gift Bow with Plants

Get ready to add a little character to your eco gifts.

If your looking to get creative and green with your gift wrap, this may be the perfect idea to try. If you have a friend who is an eco enthusiast, I am sure you will put a smile on their face if they see this on one of their gifts. When creating a gift bow from plant matter, choose leaves that a long. This activity makes me think of the Catholics using Palm leaves to make crosses, another interesting and similar use of plant leaves.

 This is similar, but on a more basic level. I chose to use the leaves of a Dracaena, as shown in the photos. They have long slender leaves that make it easier when tying it in a bow knot. They also retain moisture quite awhile, so I don't need to worry about the bow drying out if I am not going to be getting the gift to the person right away, etc. Any slender leaves can work, get creative. It may also be a good idea to not choose the healthiest leaves, maybe pick a leaf that is near the bottom or getting ready to fall naturally. No matter what plant you choose, you don;t need to follow this exact concept; this is a just basic project anyone can build off of. I secured the one I made to the package with hemp string, but you can also use jute or tie-dye string made of organic cotton or whatever.  Use whatever you feel suits the aesthetic you are looking for, as well as will fit the receiver of the gift. Sometimes doing small projects like this end up being more rewarding than expected, and I am sure whoever receives the gift will surely appreciate the extra time you took in creating a natural bow from the environment.
