Engage in Bagcycling
If you receive a bagged gift, save the bag for next year to use again
Reusing the bag makes it a more than 1 time use item, and saves you money
Repurpose the bags amongst a group of close friends, make it a thing, or use the bags for white elephant parties or giving a gift to your neighbor
2. Use Eco wrapping practices
If you use paper, try to find recycled wrapping paper
Use less paper
Plan to switch to reduced paper usage, avoid glitter, glues, excess tape, etc.
Wrap select gifts, not all of them
Use repurposed wrapping, linen wraps, or large linen bags for multi-use
Repurposed wrapping solutions will allow you to save the most money in the long run
Try to shift to this for the largest savings in time spent wrapping, cleanup, and reuse
3. Don't forget about the wildlife
Depending on where you live, you could have wildlife in your area
Keep supporting your wildlife or tending to your outdoor spaces during the holiday season
Wildlife makes a good guest over Christmas
Throw food scraps into ditch or behind wall out back, fill bird feeders, etc.
4. Make healthy cookies or goodies
When making your Christmas cookies to give to your friends and family, choose high quality and well sourced ingredients
If possible, find some locally
Buy organic or from certified companies
5. Give food as a gift
This one goes hand in hand with the one above, people underestimate the gift of giving something homeade and unique.
Making something locally, doing it responsibly, and not overpaying for something is a great way to save money while being green.
